foodsaver help please!!!!!!
I have been reading on foodsaver units. The more I read the more confused I get. Prices on the units vary drastically. I have read mixed reviews on different units and even the bags and rolls. I did find this one source where the bags and rolls look cheaper and maybe stronger???
http://www.agribags.com/mesh_bags.html Also for large units of food such as rice and beans isnt the Mylar bags and buckets a better way to go and save the foodsaver for smaller units of food? I have been to Walton foods and they seem to have some helpful links. Any other websites.? |
Re: foodsaver help please!!!!!!
A couple of things about the Foodsaver. First I 'd get a better unit than the one you see on the infomercials. This is one of those appliances you'll find yourself using a lot more than you may initially think and the higher end unit such as the GameSaver Turbo http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...002&hasJS=truehave a heavier duty pump and sealing bar. We have this unit (it was called the Professional II when we got ours) and it's worked great.
Second, as far as the bags go, I can't recommend any one site to buy bags from. Generally when we need more bags, I just google them and see who has the cheapest prices. I'd also recommend getting the jar sealing kits http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...002&hasJS=true http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...002&hasJS=true For larger quantities of grains for instance, yea, definitely go with mylar bags, oxygen absorbers, and five gallon buckets. |

Depending on how much you're into your new hobby:
http://sorbentsystems.com/sinbosealer.html I believe this one lets you use non-vac bags, which would include the standard mylar. Mylar stops all O2 and so keeps some things longer. Using regular bags may help on costs and be more useful. TS |
